The SBI Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2026 include SBI Clerk age limit, educational qualification, nationality, local language requirement, reservation conditions and other eligibility rules applicable to SBI Clerk Junior Associate recruitment.

Applications were invited from eligible Indian citizens for appointment as Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in SBI’s clerical cadre.

Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted. Candidates claiming relaxation must produce the prescribed certificates, and no category change is permitted after registration.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government as on 31 December 2026. Final-year or final-semester candidates could apply provisionally but must produce proof of passing graduation on or before that date. Integrated Dual Degree holders must also have a passing date on or before 31 December 2026. The notification does not prescribe a minimum graduation percentage.

The passing date is the date recorded on the mark sheet, certificate or provisional certificate. Where a result is published on a university or institute website, the appropriate authority may certify the date on which the result was posted.

Eligibility of Matriculate Ex-Servicemen

Matriculate ex-servicemen who obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or a corresponding Navy or Air Force certificate after at least 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union are eligible, provided the certificate is dated on or before 31 December 2026.

Important Reservation Conditions

  • OBC reservation is available only to Non-Creamy Layer candidates. Creamy Layer candidates must indicate General category, as applicable.
  • EWS candidates must produce the prescribed Income and Asset Certificate for financial year 2025-26, valid for 2026-27, at document verification.
  • SC/ST candidates must submit a caste certificate in the prescribed Government of India format.
  • PwBD candidates claiming reservation must submit a valid latest disability certificate issued by a competent authority. Horizontal reservation applies under the RPwD Act, 2016.

Eligibility Conditions for Trained SBI Apprentices

The apprentice relaxation applies only where engagement started on or after 1 January 2022 and the candidate successfully completed one year of prescribed branch experience in SBI on or before 31 August 2026, along with the required skill evaluation and joint National Apprenticeship Certificate issued through SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC.

Who Is Not Eligible?

  • Employees currently working in SBI in the clerical cadre are not eligible under this project.
  • Former SBI employees who resigned while serving in the clerical cadre are not eligible.
  • Candidates with an adverse report concerning character, antecedents or moral turpitude are not eligible.

One-fourth negative marking applies. Candidates must secure SBI’s prescribed minimum aggregate marks; no minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual subjects. Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand the specified
language selected for the State/UT. The selected language cannot be changed

The application required a photograph, signature, left-thumb impression, handwritten declaration, active email address, mobile number and relevant educational/category details. SBI Clerk Prelims Admit Card Checklist

  • Downloaded Preliminary Examination call letter with the required photograph affixed
  • Original valid photo identity proof and its self-attested photocopy
  • Two additional photographs matching the photograph on the call letter
  • Acquaint Yourself booklet and any additional item specified in the call letter

Important: SBI does not send a hard copy of the call letter by post. Candidates must retain the authenticated Preliminary call letter and ID-proof copy for the Main Examination if shortlisted.

SBI will conduct online pre-examination training for eligible SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates who selected the relevant option in the application. The schedule will be communicated through the registered email address and SMS, and no hard-copy intimation will be sent.

  • Carry the call letter, an original valid photo ID, its self-attested photocopy and two additional matching photographs.
  • Retain the authenticated Preliminary call letter and ID-proof copy for the Main Examination if shortlisted.

SBI Clerk Probation Period

Newly appointed Junior Associates remain on probation for a minimum period of six months. They must complete the e-lessons prescribed by SBI during probation. If an employee does not complete the required e-lessons or fails to meet the prescribed standards, the probation period may be extended.

SBI Clerk Transfer Rules

There is no provision for inter-circle or inter-state transfer before completion of five years of service. After five years, SBI may, at its sole discretion, consider a transfer request only in exceptional cases such as extreme compassionate grounds or spouse grounds, subject to the transfer policy and instructions applicable at that time.
