SBI Clerk Notification 2026: Vacancy, Exam Date & Latest Updates

SBI Clerk Notification 2026 was released by the State Bank of India for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. The regular recruitment notification, Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17, was issued on 11 August 2026 with 7,680 regular vacancies. Online registration was open from 11 August to 31 August 2026. The recruitment has now moved to the examination stage, with the Preliminary Examination being conducted in September 2026 and the Main Examination scheduled tentatively for November 2026.

SBI Clerk Vacancy 2026

SBI has announced 7,680 regular Junior Associate vacancies in Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17. The notification separately reports backlog vacancies under SC/ST/OBC, PwBD and XS/DXS classifications.

SBI Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must satisfy SBI’s prescribed age, educational qualification and local-language conditions. Meeting the examination cutoff alone does not override eligibility requirements.

SBI Clerk Age Limit

The age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 April 2026. Candidates must have been born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, both dates inclusive.

Separate conditions apply to Ex-Servicemen, certain widowed/divorced/separated women and eligible trained SBI apprentices. Candidates claiming relaxation should verify the exact condition in the official notification.

SBI Clerk Educational Qualification

Candidates need a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. The qualification must be completed by 31 December 2026.

Final-year or final-semester students were permitted to apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of having passed graduation on or before 31 December 2026 if provisionally selected.

SBI Clerk Application Fee 2026

The SBI Clerk application fee was ₹750 for General, OBC and EWS candidates. SC, ST, PwBD, XS and DXS candidates were exempt from the fee.

SBI Clerk Selection Process 2026

The SBI Clerk selection process consists of an online Preliminary Examination, online Main Examination and a test of the specified opted local language, wherever applicable.

1. Phase I – Preliminary Examination

4. Eligibility/document verification and final selection requirements

SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary Examination contains 100 questions for 100 marks with a total duration of 60 minutes. Each section has a separate 20-minute time limit.

There is a penalty of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Main Examination consists of 190 questions carrying 200 marks and has a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

A penalty of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question applies for incorrect answers in the objective tests.

SBI Clerk Local Language Proficiency Test

The Local Language Proficiency Test applies to provisionally selected candidates who cannot provide Class 10 or Class 12 evidence showing that they studied the specified opted local language of the State/UT for which they applied.

Candidates who provide the required Class 10 or 12 certificate showing that they studied the specified opted local language are exempt from this test. A candidate who is required to take the language test but fails to qualify will not be offered appointment.

SBI Clerk Salary 2026

The official pay scale for Junior Associates is ₹24,050–64,480. SBI provides two advance increments to graduates, taking the starting basic pay to ₹26,730.

According to the official notification, total starting emoluments at a metro location such as Mumbai are around ₹46,000 per month, including DA and other applicable allowances. Actual allowances can vary according to the place of posting.

Important SBI Clerk Rules Students Should Know

• A candidate could apply for vacancies in only one State/UT.
• Candidates could appear only once under the regular recruitment project.
• Knowledge of the opted local language is an important selection condition.
• Prelims marks do not count toward final merit.
• The final merit list is prepared State-wise and category-wise based on Main Examination performance, subject to applicable conditions.
• SBI states that the notified vacancies are provisional and may vary according to the Bank’s actual requirements.

What Should Candidates Do After SBI Clerk Prelims?

Candidates should not wait for the Prelims result to begin Mains preparation. The Mains examination adds General/Financial Awareness and Computer Aptitude and requires a much stronger level of Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning practice.

After the Prelims exam, prioritise:
