Nationality

Eligible candidates generally include Indian citizens and other nationality categories permitted under Government of India rules. Candidates falling under specified non-Indian citizenship categories may be required to produce an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification. Proficiency in the prescribed local language is required, while working knowledge of computers is desirable.

IBPS RRB Clerk Local Language Requirement 2026

Proficiency in the prescribed local language of the participating RRB is an essential requirement for the Office Assistant (Multipurpose) post. A candidate who has studied the prescribed language at Standard VIII or above in a Government-recognised Board/School, or possesses a certificate showing proficiency at Standard VIII or above, is treated as proficient in that language. Candidates who do not meet this condition at the time of selection may be given six months from the date of joining to acquire the required proficiency, subject to the rules of the concerned RRB and the probation period.
