IBPS RRB Clerk Syllabus 2026 for Prelims and Mains with topic-wise subjects and latest exam pattern.

IBPS RRB Clerk Syllabus 2026 is one of the most important resources for candidates preparing for the Office Assistant (Multipurpose) examination under CRP RRBs-XV. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Office Assistant recruitment process through two online examination stages – Preliminary Examination and Main Examination. Candidates should understand the latest exam pattern as well as the important topics generally tested in each section before starting their preparation.

According to the CRP RRBs-XV examination structure, the IBPS RRB Clerk Prelims Syllabus covers Reasoning and Numerical Ability, while the IBPS RRB Clerk Mains Syllabus includes Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, English Language or Hindi Language, and Numerical Ability.

Important Accuracy Note: IBPS officially specifies the subjects/tests, number of questions, maximum marks, sectional timings and selection rules in the CRP-RRBs-XV notification. However, IBPS does not provide a separate detailed chapter-by-chapter syllabus list in the notification. Therefore, the topic-wise syllabus below is a preparation checklist based on the areas consistently tested in RRB Office Assistant examinations and should not be described as an independently published official chapter-wise syllabus.

IBPS RRB Clerk Negative Marking 2026

Negative marking is applicable to objective tests. For every question answered incorrectly, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that particular question is deducted from the corrected score. If a question is left unanswered, no penalty is imposed for that question.

Important: It is more accurate to say “one-fourth of the marks assigned to the question” rather than simply saying “0.25 marks are deducted”, because different Main Examination sections carry different total marks.

Is IBPS RRB Clerk Prelims Qualifying?

Yes. The Preliminary Examination is used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination. For the Office Assistant (Multipurpose) post, the marks obtained in the Online Main Examination are considered for the final merit listing. Therefore, candidates need to clear Prelims but should prepare for Mains simultaneously because final selection depends on the Main Examination score.

Does IBPS RRB Clerk Have an Interview?

No. There is no interview for the IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Multipurpose) post. Candidates who qualify through the required examination stages are considered for provisional allotment on the basis of the applicable Main Examination merit, vacancies and other recruitment conditions.

How to Prepare IBPS RRB Clerk Syllabus Effectively?

Aspirants should first complete the basic concepts of Reasoning and Numerical Ability because these subjects are tested in both stages. After building speed for Prelims, preparation should gradually shift towards Mains-level puzzles, arithmetic and Data Interpretation. General Awareness and Computer Knowledge should be revised regularly rather than left for the final weeks.

Since every section of the Main Examination has a fixed time limit, section-specific mock practice is extremely important. Candidates should also analyse previous RRB Office Assistant papers to understand the types and difficulty levels of questions frequently asked.
