IBPS RRB Clerk Age Limit 2026
As per the official CRP RRBs-XV notification, the age of candidates for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) will be calculated as on 1 September 2026:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 28 years
Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 September 1998 and not later than 1 September 2008 (both dates inclusive). General and EWS candidates do not receive an ordinary category-based upper-age relaxation unless eligible under another relaxation category.

Important: Category relaxation is subject to valid certificates and the detailed conditions specified in the CRP RRBs-XV notification. The OBC-NCL certificate should contain the non-creamy-layer clause and should be issued on or after 1 April 2026 up to the applicable document-verification date. The EWS certificate should be valid for 2026–27 based on financial year 2025–26.

The minimum educational qualification for Office Assistant (Multipurpose) is a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised under the applicable rules.

Can Final Year Students Apply for IBPS RRB Clerk?
Final-year students are eligible only if their Graduation result is officially declared on or before 21 September 2026.
If the final result is declared after 21 September 2026, the candidate will not satisfy the educational qualification cut-off for CRP RRBs-XV. The date shown on the marksheet or provisional certificate will be treated as the date of passing. Where the result is published online, the candidate must obtain a proper original document or certificate issued and signed by the competent university/institute authority.
IBPS RRB Clerk Nationality Criteria
A candidate must satisfy one of the nationality/citizenship conditions prescribed by IBPS. Under the latest official RRB rules, a candidate may be:
- A citizen of India; or
- A subject of Nepal; or
- A subject of Bhutan; or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from the countries specified by IBPS with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Candidates falling under the applicable non-Indian-citizen categories must possess a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India, wherever required.
IBPS RRB Clerk Local Language Requirement
Local-language proficiency is an important eligibility condition for Office Assistant recruitment because Regional Rural Banks primarily serve local and rural customers.
Under the CRP RRBs-XV rules, a candidate is considered proficient if the relevant State language has been studied in Standard VIII or any level above Standard VIII through a government-recognised Board/School, or if an accepted certificate establishing the same is available.
If the candidate does not fulfil the prescribed local-language requirement at the time of selection, up to six months from the date of joining will be given to acquire proficiency. The RRB Board may extend this period within its rules, but not beyond the probation period.
